19 Days!

OK, so on my list I have permanently crossed off a few things. I just need to get realistic.
So I still have to finish the master bedroom. But the reservations for Sam's party and the Great Wolf lodge visit are done and I cleaned the Sugar Cane house.
We're Getting there. Something tells me the last 10 days or so are going to go by really fast!
Our unit is already advertising dates for when the guys are coming home and we still haven't even had R&R yet. It seems really weird to get excited about his return and even making plans, when R&R still hasn't happened.
And though this sounds really weird, I'm almost hesitant for him to come home. It is so strange a life to live without your partner. You create this half-life and you struggle and you manage and you make things work. And eventually you begin to own things that you used to share. The house is mine, the cars are mine, the kid is mine. How in the world am I going to learn how to be a team mate again instead of the whole team? It seems like a mountain of a challenge right now. And somewhere in the middle of all this a baby could plop down at any moment. Who said life isn't exciting?!
Anyway, in the middle of what seems like a busy and important life, I want to stop and ask for prayers for the people of Haiti. FYI, our adoption agency runs two orphanages there and everyone survived. I've always felt a small affection for the country because my aunt and uncle used to be missionaries there and a cousin was born there. I'm proud to see other nations, ours included, coming to the aid of our fellow humans. But they need SO MUCH HELP. I encourage you not just to pray, but to give time, money and encouragement to others. We can't even imagine the devastation, but we can try and help.
Hug your kids, thank God for a solid roof over your head and for water to drink. And then DO something.

19 days! Woohoo!!

It is very strange how we do create that "half life". I realize that I've made good friends over the last 9.5 months at church, through the unit, etc that have NEVER MET MY HUSBAND. And etc etc.
You guys are gonna have a great time!

PS I'm still waiting for some miraculous email from our agency asking for volunteers to take in Haitian children. I can fit 3 more kids in my car before we have to upgrade... bring them to ME! SO heartbreaking.
