So we went down to Florida for two weeks and had a nice time. We really weren't in any hurry to get home, which is unusual. Brian and I got to sleep in, we spent a lot of time in various pools, visited both parents' boats and saw Shamu at Sea World. The heat was unbearable, hence all the pool time! I don't think I'll ever complain about Fayetteville being hot and humid after spending two weeks breathing the humidity in Tampa/Orlando. Yech.
Elizabeth charmed everyone, of course, and traveled much better than her big brother at that age! She loves the pool, which is also unlike her brother at that age. I can't wait for next summer when she's old enough to wear suntan lotion and see how much she gets in the water!
Our trip became a mission to get Sam to go underwater, and Brian and he worked on it almost daily until we finally got him to dunk his head for a second. However, he did manage to "swim" a ways around the pool, so we're getting there.
Mommy and baby #3 did better than expected, even though the heat did me in. Sea World was not the disaster I thought it could be, but my sciatica is another story!
At Sea World we got in free because they were honoring military families this summer. During the Shamu show, they asked military and family to stand up, and we did. I was in tears and then they put us up on the big screen in front of the whole stadium! I think Sam was clueless as to why we were being applauded, but he deserved it none the less for the sacrifices he's made. It was really touching and nice to be thanked.
Other updates:
Brian went to Fort Knox recently and talked to the Foreign Area Officer people about his next career move. It looks pretty cool and at this point I think we're hoping for Africa! It's not a popular choice, but could have us back in the states and stationed in Europe in between tours to Africa, so it would be nicer than being gone for a straight three-year period. We'd learn French! Ick.
I'm now 24 or something weeks pregnant (6 months). He's been kicking, pushing and somersaulting quite a bit, so another active one for me, apparently. Just like last time I'm obsessed with getting back into shape as soon as possible after wards. Vacation did me well and I find I have a little more energy and less pain than I've been feeling. However, this pregnancy I'm dealing with bleeding gums, sciatica and heartburn! Why must it be such torture?
Here are a ton of pictures in random order. Enjoy!
