The things that keep me awake at night

There are two stories in the news today that make me sick.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/06/AR2009010601195.html?hpid=moreheadlines
A 6-year-old boy misses the school bus and drives to school, crashing his parents' car. His mother was sleeping. Now she's in jail.
This was a child who wasn't getting fed breakfast before he left the house. His mother wasn't even caring for him, he was on his own. And he was so intent on getting to school because it was probably the only place anyone paid attention to him. He was SIX years old.

And then this one. I don't even know where to start. It's stories like this that make me want to adopt all the children in the world so they could know what it is to be loved and protected. How on God's green earth did not ONE person care about this child? Not one! Not his biological parents, his adoptive parents, the families of both. No one thought it was wierd that he just disappeared? No one checked on him? Do you think a child who's never had a real home, has to wear glasses to see, has a chance of being alive now? And do you think after 10 years anyone is going to find out what happened to him? This is nothing but a total TRAGEDY. Every child deserves to be loved and cared for and I hope there is a special place in hell for people who allow this to happen to the innocent.

On a happy note considering the innocent, we received our adoption contract this week and our adoption is looking to cost less than we expected. =) One lucky little child will find themselves in a loving and attentive home hopefully sometime this year, and we'll still be able to afford to feed him or her. LOL

There are tragedies like this out there every day, unfortunately. But we don't need God! Some people should not be allowed to procreate. Change what you can, and pray about the rest, don't let it get you down--remember the Serenity Prayer.

So glad about the adoption news!

Love ya!

I have to remind myself ALL the time that we can't save all of them.

Mother Theresa once said " If you can't feed a hundred people... just feed one." Whatever children we bring HOME .. that will be one, two, five less kids in the world living without a loving family.

So excited about your news... when do we start the fundraising!!

Stories like this make me cry. But mothers like you and me MUST take Mother Theresa's advice. We can't save them all, but we can love the ones we can reach. SO GLAD to hear about the adoption proceedings moving right along. Sounds as if 2009 will be a great year for your family. I hope so. Love ya. Mrs. A.
