Jamaica...Ya Man!

Thank you for all of those that prayed for Brian and my vacation to Jamaica - it was PERFECT! We were so far removed from our depressing reality that we had a great time and did absolutely nothing. No tours to Dunns River Falls, no snorkeling. All we did was lounge by the pool, chat with new friends and stuff our faces. And lots of something else I won't talk about since this is a PG blog. =)
So, here are a few pictures from our short stay at Sandals, Ocho Rios.
The landscaper, whose name was Sheldon, would drop by our villa with coconuts and chop them up for us with his machete. He also brought sugar cane with him one time. Here's Brian holding is snack. =)

I was thrilled when we saw our cabana for Tuesday and adorned myself with the decorative flowers.

This was worth the money! We rented it and our breakfast and lunch was brought to us, we were given all the beer and water we wanted, and had our own lounge chairs right by the pool. Our cabana was about 4 steps from the side of the pool.

There was a jamboree with food and entertainment Monday night so we got dressed up and went.

Our last night in Jamaica.

In one of the many pools available to us. This one in particular had a tiled slide that dropped you from an upper pool. We were like kids on a playground. And you know I screamed the whole way down!
This is Sheldon chopping the coconuts for us. Later he came by and showed us his bat and ball for playing cricket and explained how to play the game. The people in the background were our villa neighbors who we hung out with several times. He was Navy and they were from NY and stationed in Connecticut. They were really nice and were a plus to our vacation.
We had some brushes with Jamaican wildlife right on the back of our villa (we had our own pool). One morning Brian woke up to find two furry babies on the patio and they jumped into the pool to escape. I got out the video camera and captured him rescuing them from the pool. Forgive me for all the chatter. Can you tell I'm a Mom who hadn't seen her son in a few days? =) I thought they were ferrets, but after asking the locals we decided they were baby mongoose. We also had a cat family who would visit, but kept their distance. And the geckos were cute, too.
We had orginally planned to take Sam to Disney before we left for Jamaica but we were so exhausted last week from spending time outdoors that we saved the trip for after Jamaica. So now we'll be driving home on Easter Sunday instead of being in church, but if we tried to make it home Saturday we'd be really pushing our luck. So tomorrow we hit Disney for the day, Saturday we'll recover, and Sunday we'll spend all day driving. I'll post the Disney pictures later. Thanks again for the prayers!

It looked like you guys had so much fun! The Mongeese (?) were adorable! They reminded me of the prairie dogs we have around here. So glad you had a chance to get away, love and miss you both so much!

I'm so glad you were able to get away alone and that you had such a great time. The pics are so cute, you should frame the one of you and Brian (standing). I saw Sam at church Wed night, Mom was showing him off. He wouldn't talk to me--except to tell me he wouldn't because "I'm scary". I think he meant he was scared with all the new people making over him. But he is DARLING and growing so fast. As always, love and prayers to all of you. Mrs. A.
