Prom queen

OK, so Brian takes command of his unit next week - go, baby! I'm so very proud of him and I know he's going to do really well.
For those non-Army types, the commander's wife is often expected, but not required, to head up the Family Readiness Group, or FRG of their husband's unit. You will be seeing those three letters a lot from me, because "my command" begins the same day as Brian's. By the time I get back from my vacation in the mountains, I will have a tremendous amount of work to do, Army regulations to learn, and drama fires to put out.
Now, I do this not because I have to, but because I truly believe an FRG can help spouses get through the worst year of their life. Fun in peace time, FRGs are darn near life-lines during a deployment. However, they are what their members make of them so I don't have a whole lot of control over whether we have a good one or not.
I have already been heavily involved in my current FRG as well as the steering committee that "runs" the unit alongside the command staff. I get a lot of excitement thrown in my direction over getting to lead an FRG, like it's a prize.
However, I can't help but feel like Carrie being crowned prom queen. It's like a crown I get to show off, but I don't know the bucket of pig's blood is teetering above my head.
It's an opportunity to shine, for sure, but most importantly its about service, so I certainly hope I don't fail "my ladies." Sounds like I've got a good group already in place for me, so woohoo on that!
Keep Sam in your prayers. He's finally missing his Daddy and acting out quite a bit. Potty training went down the tubes. I'm hoping to take some time off from my busy life and just focus on him for several weeks until he can get through this.
So, I leave this weekend for a week in the mountains. Numerous pictures and videos to follow when I return.
Household 6, out.

You'll be a GREAT FRG leader -- because you WANT TO BE and because you truly care about your members. Any help I can provide just let me know.

So... I just took over our Co's FRG too. Our new Co Commander's wife is on bedrest due to a complicated twin pregnancy so I am it. I have a lot of cleaning up to do and hopefully will be able to make it a good one. We should trade notes!
