Whirlwind

Life is coming to a close here in Fayetteville for the Harris family and these last few weeks have flown by. We are now about 10 days out from our estimated time of departure and we're pushing to get all the details taken care of before we go. As if this wasn't enough, we've had all kinds of events going on, so here are some pictures to catch you up.
I was farewelled by the troop FRG and the steering committee, which was nice since this is a pretty thankless job. It was bittersweet handing over leadership of the FRG, but what a relief not to be responsible for that anymore. I'm finally free and getting a good break! I have enough to deal with at home, for sure.
Sam had his last day of school. We decided to take him out a month early because getting him to and from school with two infants was too much for me. So he got to go back one more day after the Christmas break to say goodbye to his friends. Here he is with Bradley, one of his closest playmates since they started in the two's class together!

Brian also had his change of command ceremony. Once again the emotions coming from his guys and his superiors was something to see, and Brian once again got emotional during his farewell speech. He hated saying goodbye!

Our little Ben had abdominal surgery on the 27th of January to remove an umbilical remnant. The whole thing lasted 30 minutes. I found this tiny oxygen mask in his patient bag when we got home. So tiny....

Recovering from surgery with extra love from big brother. Sam was shocked to see Ben's wound and felt really bad for him. Such a sweetie.

Yet more proof of my theory that babies are like cats: they'll fall asleep in the weirdest positions.

Hey, mom!

Another long torsoed baby. Can't keep these kids in clothes! He won't be fitting into this cradle much longer, either.

My beautiful little girl! Her hair is getting long enough to curl out from her ears and she looks like such a little girl. You should have seen the look on Daddy's face when he saw her in this dress...pride mixed with fear. LOL

Sipping from her straw cup!

Eating peas and rice with us. She demands to eat what's on our plate or we hear about it!

One of my favorite events from this month! We got to take Elizabeth back to the Bethany office where we adopted her from and let her reunite with our social workers. This is Sarah's social worker whom I exchange almost weekly emails with as we navigate this post-adoption communication thing. It was so much fun showing Elizabeth off and they were in awe of her, of course!

And finally we dedicated both babies this morning at our last morning at Church of the Open Door. This is our new pastor and unfortunately the best picture I could get of us. Ben is wearing a cute little sweater vest, but he was sleepy and took a nap in my arms throughout - thankfully not wailing at the top of his lungs like I expected him to! However E could barely stand to be still for too long and kept demanding Daddy put her down. It was funny.

We still have lots of house repairs, replacements and cleaning to do before we leave town. The movers are scheduled for the 7th and we're still waiting to hear that we have a house to move into at Fort Benning. We could really use your prayers, as moving is always stressful and we've never done it with three kids before!

I think Ben looks like you! Especially in that "Hey Mom" pic. Too sweet! I know you stress out often, but please try and remember how very blessed you are to have such amazing children. God will never give you more than you can handle! Love you!

I can't get over how big the babies have gotten since we left in Nov! I know the stress of moving is LAME, I hope it goes well and easy and that you adjust to GA WAY better than I have to CA!!! :) Miss you friend!

Thanks for the update and the precious pics. I know you're busy but appear to be handling life in the fast lane pretty well. The kids are adorable and Ben is beautiful. I'm glad his surgery is over, we've been praying for him and will be praying for a smooth transitional move. I can't imagine not knowing where you're going to live, but at least Ga. isn't the end of the world. God bless you all. Mrs. A.

Brian,
Just wear your uniform around when Elizabeth has boys over, maybe be cleaning a gun or sharpening a knife. It works like a charm.

It makes you feel good when you answer the door and the young man takes a couple of steps backward.

Wait a minute, you were one of those boys. Well it worked most of the time.
