I've been researching and voting on my absentee ballot for 3 hours now! My family is starving, but as a woman, I must exercise my right. Many women suffered for it. And now I am, too. LOL
I researched all the local issues and candidates, and left the best for last. I have been holding off on making a decision, and it never got easier, so now I had to finally do the leg work. I decided instead of listening to all the crap they say, I would look at what they've done (putting Mr. Obama at a great disadvantage, I must say). So I wrote down the issues that were most important to ME and then went about researching each candidates voting record. Exhausting, to say the least.
Here's my list of issues and the winner:
Iraq: Obama - I never agreed with it in the first place, and it's kind of over now anyway
Economy: Obama - I'll get more money from his plan, and I need it
Veterans: ? - Republicans are not always the pro-military party, but Obama has almost no voting record on this
Abortion/Gay Marriage: McCain - I'm a Christian, gotta go with my faith on these
Crime: McCain (Obama doesn't even mention crime on his extensive web site. Ha!)
Education: ? - I really hate vouchers and the Dept. of Education, but both candidates support these
Women's Issues: Obama - I want paid maternity leave, equal pay for equal work, more family friendly working environments for those of us with kids at home.
So, as you can see, there's still no clear winner. So frustrating!
Meanwhile, on preparations for Halloween, we carved pumpkins on Saturday. Sam had fun, except he couldn't help us with all of it, since it wasn't safe for a 2-year-old. He finally had it, hence the tears.

And a quick video. What am I gonna do with him?

The pictures are as precious as ever--childproofing at his age is past, but you'll need to have those for the next one. Now you have to TRAIN him to stay out of what you want him to stay out of. And if you vote for Obama I think your father will not speak to you for a while, if you're lucky. If you're not lucky, call out the fire trucks!
Love you! Mom
I chose McCain.
Phew Kathie, glad you won't get disowned!
And... can you please make me an open faced turkey sandwich with apples and cheddar please????
You know you can vote for whoever you think is best, and I will still love you. Might think your mental.
By the way I was shocked that you didn't know about McCain and Obama on the women's issues. The proof is in their actions.
Obama pays his female staff just a little more than the national average and definitely less than the men. He also has only a few women on his key staff. On the otherhand, McCain pays his women staff much more ( I think 123% above the average of 73%) than his male staff and 6 of the top 10 key advisors are women.
