Stopping to smell the roses....

The previous owners of this house planted rose bushes in the backyard. Brian and I are not green thumbs, but I've managed to keep them from dying. On occasion, I take the opportunity to bring them into the house. On Tuesday, as my litter-box couch was being cleaned, Sam and I were forced outside. Nothing was going right that morning and I was stressing out. But when I saw the roses I got all excited and I clipped some and put them in a vase on my kitchen table. They made me so happy, and reminded me that God always puts beauty in our day, we just have to stop and take notice of it. For the rest of the day, every time I looked at them, I was reminded that my stress was nothing compared to God's awesome power to handle everything. Of course, my cats kept eating them and throwing up all over our house. After cleaning up the fifth pile of cat vomit I finally threw them out. As I told Brian: "Because Kathie can't have anything that makes her happy." LOL! Self-pity is hilarious sometimes.

I had my camera with me one day when I went to pick up Sam from preschool and got some shots of him playing on the playground. The outfit he is wearing was chosen by him that morning. Men have no taste.

Also, the last week has seen some major hits to our tight budget, and this was one of them. Can you tell the difference between the top two pictures and the bottom two?

Did you figure it out? Good for you! Your inflated ego is your reward. =) We had a 60 foot pine tree cut down after it was hit by lighting (long before we ever owned the house). It was threatening our roof, so it had to go. Sigh. I still don't know why Brian wouldn't just do it himself. =)
