My dining room

OK, so here's an update on my dining room.
Background: I had hoped to spend a cool $1500 replacing my entire dining room set when we moved into the new house. Poverty kept me from doing this. Instead, I found a scratch and dent table and a combination of thrift store chairs and some I was given for free a few years ago. I decided to strip them, sand them and paint them all black. Then reupholster the seats. So they would look like one consistent dining room set. Even if a little miss-matchy. Ha! I just made up a word.
Update: I finished the chairs JUST in time for Thanksgiving, though I've still been unable to reattach the seat to their respective chairs. Kill me, I know, but I never took real before and after pictures. So instead I have found an image of one of the chairs in the background of another picture, and then - of course - my after photos. I hope you can use your imagination. =)
This is what three of the chairs looked like before I got started. They were given to me by my Aunt Barbara when they moved into their smaller home and needed to get rid of stuff.

Here's the after photo.

These chairs, also three of them, were plain wood with black leather seats.

And here's what the whole thing looks like. I did not paint the table, it came like that. I matched the chairs to it. What do you think?

Also, odd news. I'm swamped with ridiculous FRG stuff and Brian has been getting mad at me for working so hard. I agreed I needed a break and told him after our friends are done with their command in February I would take a break from helping out. Then he comes home Friday night, giving me his trademark sheepish grin when he knows he has bad news for me. He offered to take the command himself! So much for a break for me. Instead, I'll be leading the FRG. I screamed, cursed and literally cried. Cut to three days later and he may be getting himself out of it. But we'll see. It's not that I'm not a supportive wife - hardly. But running an FRG, not to mention during a deployment, not to mention he would then switch to his expected command in the middle of this deployment and I would then have to run THAT FRG during the deployment, is very hard, unappreciated work. And I don't need the added stress.
But, since it's not for sure anymore, maybe I'll get out of it. =) We'll see. =)
Also, speaking of FRG stuff, please pray for our Christmas Party this Saturday. Due to being completely scammed by one of our FRG members, we are now having to scramble in the days before the party and replan it almost completely. We have to feed, entertain, etc., about 150 people! On what's basically 4 days notice. So pray for us and the poor suckers who are going to be expecting a great party. Sigh. And you wonder why I don't want to run this thing!

Your Aunt Barbara would be proud of what you've done with her chairs--might even want them back! Your dining room looks very nice. I don't see how you do all you do and admire you for it. However, hopefully some of the other things you mentioned will not come to pass. And if it makes you feel any better, most of us are stressed this time of year. Love to all. Mrs. A.

Oh man. That sucks. I really hope the party turns out well - I am sure it will if I know you and Marci well enough! :)

Well, dearest girl, I know you will get it all done in your fashion, and everyone will think this is the way it was supposed to be! I will be praying for you! I suggest that if you are going to be the FRG leader for the next deployment (and perhaps a new mother, too!) get yourself a really good helper or two you can delegate stuff to. And the dining room is gorgeous!

Love you! Mom
