Summer vacation 2011

We just got back yesterday from what turned out to be a nice relaxing vacation. Brian and I just didn't think it was possible with three kids (two babies) and lots of family and friends to see. But our age-given wisdom and some blessings from God made it so!
I did some research and found a nice two-bedroom condo in Ruskin, Florida that was kid-friendly, modern and within our budget. It also happened to be right in between the grandparents' homes, so it worked out nicely! Gratefully, everyone was willing to come to us and we were able to entertain them at the pool and feed them dinner as well! So we had several evenings of relaxing, good conversation, good food and the babies could still take naps! Brian let me go to yoga classes and out to lunch with my best friend Beth, and he got to work out at the fitness center twice. And we never ate out in a restaurant! The kids had a great time and didn't want to come home. They even let us sleep through the night! That has NEVER happened before on a vacation in five years of parenthood!
The one outing we did attempt was to take the kids to Lowry Park Zoo, voted the #1 zoo in the country. It was a nice zoo, but the June Florida heat and humidity was too much to bear. The high was in the 90s that day and we lasted about 4 hours and couldn't take it anymore! I'm so glad we did something more low key instead of trying a theme park in that kind of weather with the babies, because it would have been a disaster. Once again, thank you husband for putting some sense into my sometimes too hopeful plans.

I had to make it happen, but finally got some good pictures of ME with the kids

Finally a family photo!

What's better than grandparents with laps full of grand kids?!

Ben had shown an interest in eating real food, but every time we put it to his mouth he would flinch. Suddenly Sunday evening he couldn't get enough of his Daddy's cuban!

My sweet Bennie boy! Love this kid

My baby girl loves to play dress up!

How cute is this picture of Sam? Love my big boy!

Finally a picture of the three of them! I really need to do this more often, because one day I will look back on this and wonder how I survived!

Glad you had a relaxing vacation. Sometimes things work out better with 2 or 3 kids instead of just one. Great seeing you, tho briefly. Such a lovely family you are blessed with, and they're growing so fast. I really look forward to the pictures and updates. Love you. Mrs. A.
Happy Father's Day, Brian!

What do you mean, E likes to dress up?! Where's the dress?!!

Seriously, it was good to see you a couple of times and let the kids nap. Now that all our kiddos will be in GA, maybe we can get together a few times before we sail off into the sunset again!

Love you! Mom
