February 21, 2010 - The day he left to go back (almost 10 months down)
So he went back today, on what happened to be my 32nd birthday. I can definitely say this goodbye was not nearly as heart-wrenching as the last one, but it hurt none-the-less. He and I were both sick with anxiousness this morning while we waited for the time to come to take him to the airport. Sam began throwing temper tantrums Friday morning in his effort to show his disapproval of the situation. He kept asking to go on the plane or go over to "Daddy's work." But we weathered through it, and tomorrow we're back to that normal I wish weren't normal. Really sad when you almost feel relief at getting back to "your life" and when you both keep accidentally referring to over there as "home." Can't wait for this to be over! And really hope I don't have to do it again!
We think he has about 8 more weeks to go, but dates are always changing. Please continue to pray for his safety and the safety of his brothers in arms.
I can't believe I have to sleep alone again tonight.
Oh, by the way, I guess I'll go ahead and let everyone know so they can be praying. As of last week we were told we're being considered, among other families, for a baby due in late March. Please be praying for BM as she makes one of the most important decisions of her life and certainly the most important for her unborn child. We know nothing more, so don't ask, I'll tell you if we hear anything. But keep the process in your prayers. Especially as she might actually choose THIS family:

Hang in, getting back into the routine feels good ( it sucks to say that, but it's true). I'll see you later this week!
Love you Sis! Hope you a had a decent birthday despite the circumstances. I'll be praying about the baby!
I can only imagine how difficult a military life must be. So full of ups and downs--mostly downs--but it sounds as if you're coming down the homestretch. We will continue to pray for the baby situation. In God's goodness and His love for you, He has given you something to occupy your mind and life as Brian leaves. He is so good, all the time and His timing is perfect. Love ya lots. Mrs. A.
