The system works!

OK, it worked this one time for me, so I'm going to celebrate.
I thought I had posted about this, but I guess not. Anyway, there was a bill stalled in the House that included a section that would give military spouses the same rights as their husband when it comes to choosing a home state, and therefore receiving all the benefits of that situation. I emailed my local NC congressman (though I'm actually a FL voter) last month and asked him to say yes to this bill. I just got a call today from his office in DC that it in fact passed and is waiting in the Senate now. Woohoo! It's being handled by the veteran's committee, so I guess its a good time with all the attention vets are getting.
So even though I vote absentee and my vote never gets counted, at least I can feel like I matter in other ways. =)

Some friends just sent me a link to this video. It's awesome and moving, so if you have 8 minutes and some tissues, check it out!
