I wish I had something more interesting to talk about, but we just pulled in from our vacation last night and I've spent all day long unpacking my kitchen. Not fun. How is it you buy the biggest house you've ever owned and can't find anywhere to put anything?
Our vacation wasn't much of one. We were too stressed with all the long trips right on top of each other and even all the driving during our vacation. We just couldn't relax as much as we needed to. Poor Sam has had enough of car trips. Today Brian tried to put him in the car to take him to the store, and even with the promise of cake, ice cream, french fries - whatever he wanted - he wouldn't go! He was so good during the 10 hours on the road yesterday. I guess he's earned it.
The next few days will be nothing but unpacking and organizing. I'm planning to super organize every inch of my house between now and the next move. =) I'm actually looking forward to it.
I've been so stressed and angry lately and I really hate that ugly side. I can't really get a grip on why I'm so angry. When I get like this I tend to make lists of all my ills until I could write a book, and I forget to check things off, so it could go on forever. The first time I started one of these was with my first Army move, when I lost my husband to a tour in Korea, had terrible movers and had to do it by myself. Months later I caught myself adding to my list, and suddenly realized how much of it was in the past and irrelevant. Why continue to count it?
So, I'm going to try and start burning my list, bit by bit, until it's gone and I can't add anything to it.
I'm going to start by listing the things I hate, and then like, about my house, so I can end on a happy note.
The Hate List
1. It gives me the creeps
2. The kitchen doesn't have enough storage
3. It costs too much
4. There are narrow pathways throughout the house that drive me crazy
5. The brand new stainless steel oven isn't self-cleaning and sticks out so far you can't open the silverware drawer without hitting the oven handle.
The Like List
1. It has screens on the windows - I can let fresh air in all over the house.
2. I finally have a fridge that has ice and water buttons.
3. It has a big backyard for Sam to play in.
4. It has a front porch I can sit on in the evening with my husband.
5. It's quiet at night - no a/c coming off and on, no dishwasher sounds.
Hopefully the hate list will get shorter and the like list longer. Thanks for reading my rants...to those of you who didn't click off four paragraphs ago. =)

Sorry you're having such a terrible time. Even tho you have every right to be in a "funk", I hope you'll get out of it real soon. Start marking off the HATE list and adding to the LIKE list, remembering what the Bible says: (paraphrased) "Be content (not deliriously happy) in whatever situation you're in." Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative. Humm. Sounds like a good title for a song, doesn't it? Love ya. Mrs. A.CTVSc
